ELECTED ARCH OF TASTE PROUDUCT BY THE SLOW FOOD MOVEMENT
Kitul’s Sap is a natural sweetener with a low glycemic index, which contains inverted sugars. Kitul, Caryota Urens, is a palm tree with large and beautiful flowers growing in Sri Lanka. The sap from the flower is harvested daily by cutting off a piece of the flower stalk; this sap is filtered, then heated and boiled at a temperature of approximately 110° until a beautiful brown colour is obtained.
Elected Ark of Taste Product by the Slow Food Movement, Kitul Sap is produced in accordance with local traditions and customs. Withstands cooking at up to 200°C, this sap can also be used in recipes ranging from the most traditional to the most exotic (baked apples, coconut flan, banana gratin, etc.). This sap is very much appreciated for naturally sweetening desserts, hot or cold drinks by giving them a refined and original flavour. It can be used to coat ice creams, fruit salads, white cheeses and desserts.
FLAVORS
Creamy, amber-coloured, Sève de Kitul has fine notes of caramel. Its smell is sweet, subtly smoky.
